Stupid NHL
Aaron Rome hit on Nathan Horton = concussion, major penalty, game misconduct, 4 game suspension, missed Stanley Cup Final
Zdeno Chara hit on Max Pacioretty = broken vertabra, major penalty, game misconduct, no suspension
Stupid NHL = the purchase of a satellite dish for the enjoyment of various European hockey leagues.
(No debate about illegal nature of Rome’s hit, issue is the...

While browsing over articles at First Things I came across this piece by David Bentley Hart. I enjoy his writing in general, but this is hilarious.
Shame on me.
All morning I had been standing here in my office with the window open, and only at 11:57 am have I now heard the birds singing outside.
Then would you read a Sustaining Book, such as would help and comfort a Wedged...

Game Over.
At least for this year. The Canadiens lost last night. Looks like I am cheering for the Canucks.
Although Vancouver fans probably want to puke right now as game 7 goes into overtime, these games are why I love playoff hockey.
Update: what a beautiful win for the Canucks. Congrats.

My Favorite George Hebert Poem
AARON.
HOLINESS on the head, Light and perfection on the breast, Harmonious bells below raising the dead To lead them unto life and rest. Thus are true Aarons drest.* Profaneness in my head, Defects and darkness in my breast, A noise of passions ringing me for dead Unto a place where is no rest : Poor priest ! thus am I drest. Only another head I have another heart and...

What Does God Need for His Glory?
In surveying the blogging world, I came across this today:

(Please read the post linked to above before reading the following)
I cannot understand why it is okay in the reformed world to see the goodness and aseity of God sacrificed on the altar of His glory.

Guess the Poet #1?
Without using Google, guess the Poet.
I know that He exists. Somewhere in silence He has hid his rare life From our gross eyes.
’Tis an instant’s play ’Tis a fond Ambush Just to make Bliss Earn her own surprise!
But should the play Prove piercing earnest Should the glee glaze In Death’s stiff stare
Would not the fun Look too expensive! Would not the jest Have crawled too far!
Why the change?
I have moved the blog back to Tumblr. Why?
The iOS Wordpress app is horrible. The Tumblr app rocks.
I have always liked using Tumblr, but I did not stick with it in the past because of the lack of comments.
I am not so sure that comments really matter. Anyways, there is page for asking questions and a page for anyone to submit an article if they want to try. Of course any articles have to...

Good Warfare Theology →
I just got done reading this paper as I am preparing for an evangelism class I am teaching this Saturday. Dr. Moore’s paper is very helpful in bringing together Biblical Theology, Evangelism, and an unabated passion for Jesus. A must read.

Me: I'm feeling depressed. I want to go to IKEA and get that desk I want.
Wife: And that would make you happy?
Me: No, but it would forestall the need to deal with my unhappiness just a little further.

A Body of Divinity by Thomas Watson
If you are looking for a good book on theology to keep around as a reference for yourself and your family you should consider A Body of Divinity by Thomas Watson. Watson was a Puritan author, and the book is old, yet his clarity in the presentation of doctrine is in my experience unmatched. When I need to teach on a specific doctrine, I will often turn to Watson to see how he outlined and...

A quick review of "Your Song" by Harry Connick,...
I just bought the new album by Harry Connick, Jr. entitled “Your Song.” I like it. Its an album of covers done the way I like them done, recognizable yet a bit different, by a great singer. I give it 4/5 stars. Go buy it and dance to it with someone. Your spouse if your married.
